Stager moving dates

If your chain is moving fast, but the house you’re moving into isn’t quite ready you can sell a few weeks before you buy and move into your new place. Simply hire self-storage for your belongings and arrange for the house movers to move everything into your storage unit.

You will need to stay with family or rent an Airbnb for the time you need – who knows you could turn it into a little holiday! When your new home has completed move everything into your new place, you could take the opportunity to give your new place a lick of paint and clean the carpets whilst it’s empty. Staggering the moving out and moving in dates will take a lot of stress out of the situation. It also gives you back control, where you might have lost your buyers if they need to move quickly, or need extra time to secure your perfect home.

Moving in together

If you’ve decided it’s time to move in with your partner you might have tackled the big decisions such as where you should live but be struggling over the small stuff. If you have two of everything and your interior design tastes are different you might need a bit of extra room to work out what you want to keep and items that don’t work in your new place. It can be helpful to have some short term storage to give you some space to work out what you really need. Then you can sell, donate or just bin items that don’t need to come with you.

Downsizing

If you’re downsizing you are likely to have a lifetime of belongings that will make your new place feel very small. If you hire a storage unit you can keep your precious items but live in a smaller, more convenient home that isn’t cluttered. Then in the future if you want to get items out of storage you can, to use in your own home, gift to family or sell. It’s good to have some time to adjust to your new home knowing everything is safe.

Decluttering to sell

If your home is packed full of stuff it might make selling more of a challenge. Moving large items of furniture into temporary storage can make your house feel bigger and make it easier to sell. 

Extra space

Having packed up boxes everywhere can be a bit of a nightmare! If you have mobility issues it could also make your home a dangerous place to be. Moving boxes gradually into storage before you move can make the process safer for everyone.
